Job Overview/Summary

The Accounting Manager will drive improvements across the entire finance department and, with the Controller, will ensure an accurate and timely close. This position will have constant interaction with other departments throughout the company and will work closely with the Controller, VP of Finance, and rest of the accounting team to help structure the monthly financial closing cycle, perform and review account reconciliations and analysis, complete inventory costing activities, process sales tax reports, and process payroll on a bi-weekly basis.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with Controller and VP of Finance to develop monthly close process and team responsibilities
  • Walk-through and document processes, looking for automation, general, and control improvements
  • Work with team on General Ledger account analysis and reconciliations – cash, inventory, intercompany, receivables, payables, accruals, long term assets, leases under IFRS 16/ASC 842, and others, as assigned
  • Prepare and post complex monthly journal entries
  • Assist Controller with inventory costing and standard roll forward in a manufacturing production facility
  • File state tax reports monthly and quarterly
  • Process payroll on a bi-weekly basis
  • Process sales commissions and monthly rebates
  • Assist Controller in reviewing work, developing and maintaining accounting policies, and training staff
  • Assist Controller and VP of Finance in preparation of monthly reporting, analysis, and upload requirements
  • Collect from affiliates and US office and submit weekly consolidated reports for Sales & Bookings & Cash
  • Prepare detailed reports and financial reporting for semi-annual audit
  • Assist Controller and VP of Finance in preparing ad-hoc reports and quarterly reporting for board meetings
  • Ability to identify, evaluate, and document technical and operational accounting issues
  • Stay current with accounting standards and guidance and apply them to the business
  • Work closely with International subsidiaries and partners in Asia and Europe
  • Lead key projects related to payroll system upgrade, state tax system upgrade, and expense reimbursement process
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Key Skills, Abilities and Experience Required

Years and Type of Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in Accounting
  • CPA required
  • 5+ years of experience with a minimum of 2 years in public accounting
  • Knowledge of ERP Systems and Salesforce experience helpful
  • Familiarity with cross-currency accounting is a plus

  • Demonstrated skills in problem assessment and resolution, analysis, and collaboration across multiple departments

  • Ability to work under pressure with changing priorities and strict deadlines
  • Ability to work with highly confidential information
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal); customer focused (internal and external)
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft programs – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
    Knowledge of ERP Systems and Salesforce experience helpful
  • Demonstrated use of initiative and ability to make appropriate linkages in work requirements and anticipate next steps
