Client is a St. Louis, Missouri based, operationally focused, private investment firm with a long, demonstrated record of success in acquiring and building companies for long term investment.   Client began operations in 1976 engaging in private investments and raised its first private equity fund in 1984.  Client offering #1 was one of the first private equity funds raised in America.  Since its inception, Client has completed 208 acquisitions across 45 different industry groups.  We have divested 34 of those groups through private sales or public offerings.

We acquire, operate/manage, and divest our companies through a team approach comprised of executives from each of our functional departments: Operations, Acquisitions and Finance.  We believe it is through a collaborative team approach, between highly motivated, hard-working, smart executives working in a disciplined process, that the best results are achieved.

Client is currently investing its sixth Fund which is a $672 million Fund.  We are looking to quickly, but prudently, deploy the capital in Fund VI while continuing to manage and improve the companies that are currently in the portfolio.  We are seeking to bolster our finance staff through the addition of a Financial Analyst to facilitate our efforts.

The Position

Location
St. Louis, Missouri

Reporting Relationships
The Financial Analyst will report directly to , CFO of client, but will work closely with Senior VP’s of Finance who also report to the CFO.

Responsibilities
The Financial Analyst will have a meaningful role in supporting acquisitions and divestitures of portfolio businesses.  This will include modeling of return expectations, financial forecast modeling, sales data base analysis, customer and product line trend analysis, cost analysis, assistance/support of quality of earnings reviews, data room preparation and/or review, coordinating due diligence requests, assisting with the coordination of lender due diligence, and participation in investment committee discussions/presentations.   It will not just be the preparation of such analyses that will lead to the candidate’s success but rather the evaluation and insights around turning the data into actionable information.

 

The Financial Analyst will also have a meaningful on-going management/management support role.  Support activities in this area could include reviewing monthly operating results, participating in monthly Operations Review meetings and quarterly President’s Forum meetings (i.e. Board Meetings), annual business plan evaluation, analysis of capital expenditure projects, assisting with the implementation of the automated financial reporting package, add-on acquisition support (see descriptions above) and other special projects (including preparation of bridge and sales analyses).

Compensation
The compensation for this position will be influenced by the marketplace and the current experience of the candidate.  The position will carry an attractive base salary and will be eligible for an annual bonus, depending upon the achievement of defined business and personal objectives.  In addition, the position will be eligible for bonuses that are paid upon the acquisition and divestiture of portfolio businesses.

Other Agreements

As a condition of employment, the candidate will be required to sign a confidentiality and non-compete agreement.

Travel
Minimal 10-15%.

The Candidate
Education/Certifications
BS/BA from a credible institution in accounting or finance is required.  A minor/second major in systems or applied math is a plus.

Professional Qualifications

2 to 3 years of experience post-graduation,
Strong general accounting and financial analysis skills,
Cost accounting experience is a plus,
Public accounting experience is a plus,
M&A or underwriting experience, preferably involving due diligence is a plus,
Experience working with manufacturing or distribution businesses is a plus,
Strong modeling and excel skills.
