AAFA recently sat down with its affiliate member, Homrich, Klein & Associates, to learn more about current talent and hiring trends in Atlanta, GA. Here’s what to expect if you work, are searching for a job, or hiring in the Atlanta market.
2017 is off to a strong start in accounting and finance hiring. There is an abundance of accounting focused positions, from staff accountant through controller level, as companies continue to expand during the vibrant economy. This strong demand tends to drive up salaries as companies compete for talent. There has been some softening, however, in the demand for upper-level finance positions.
The new revenue recognition and leasing rules are spurring a demand for more technical accounting roles with an emphasis on candidates with public accounting backgrounds. The demand for consultants in this area is also heavy as employers seek resources to work through the initial analysis and implementation.
Companies who prioritize the hiring processes are the most competitive in obtaining top talent. Highly desirable candidates are usually exploring multiple opportunities and receiving multiple job offers. Companies who present a clear vision of the organization, the role, are flexible and efficient in the interview process, and present a competitive offer are much more successful in obtaining the talent they are targeting.
